Chipp Raises $2 Million to Put AI Agents in Every Workplace
We Raised $2 Million to Put AI Agents in Every Workplace
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Seed round led by Homegrown Capital brings Chipp’s total seed funding to $2M. The “Canva for AI” now powers 100 000+ custom agents across 13 000 users.
FARGO, ND — July 22, 2025 —Chipp, regarded as the “Canva for AI,” has raised a $2M seed at an $11M valuation led by Homegrown Capital, with participation from Founderville VC, gener8tor 1889, M25, Rex Salisbury of Cambrian Ventures and Jutta Steiner, co-founder of Parity Technologies and former Chief Security at Ethereum Foundation.
Chipp enables any employee to build and deploy a branded, company-trained AI agent in under a minute—making AI accessible and actionable across entire organizations. Since launching in August 2023, the company has grown rapidly, with over 13,000 users creating more than 100,000 AI agents. Annual recurring revenue has surpassed $400,000, with customers across healthcare, finance, education, consulting and marketing.
Chipp’s origin traces back to a different idea entirely. Co-Founders Scott Meyer (Fargo) and Hunter Hodnett (Greenville, S.C.) were teaching developers about AI before ChatGPT even launched. When OpenAI released its API, the pair began exploring how AI could solve real problems in their communities. Their initial product—a payments layer for AI tools—launched under the name “Chipp” in August 2023. But when they created a simple chatbot builder to demo the checkout flow, users skipped the payments and flooded the playground. That pivot moment led to a complete refocus on no-code agent creation by January 2024. Since then, Chipp has embedded AI agents into tools like Slack and WhatsApp and is now building one-phrase voice agents that can talk back in real time.
“At Chipp, we believe the people doing the work should build the AI that helps them,” said Scott Meyer, Co-Founder & CEO.
“Most teams want to use AI but don’t know where to start; we give them a one-minute path from idea to a branded agent that lives where they already work. This funding lets us double down on SMBs, complete SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance, and expand both our integrations and on-prem options.”
Chipp’s platform addresses a growing gap in AI adoption: 75% of knowledge workers are using generative AI at work but only 13% of executives report “significant enterprise-level impact” from genAI to date. (Accenture, 2025). Chipp bridges this gap with three core innovations: rapid agent creation that reflects a company’s brand and security standards, training on internal data sources like Google Drive, Notion, YouTube and SharePoint to deliver grounded answers with citations, and seamless deployment via white-labeled webpages or integrations into tools like Slack and WhatsApp.
The new capital will support key initiatives including enterprise-grade security, completion of SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance under the guidance of newly hired Principal Engineer Andrew Poland, the rollout of on-premise and white-label offerings to support customers with strict data requirements, and deeper integrations for knowledge ingestion and agent deployment.
Chipp is already demonstrating Silicon Valley-style momentum from its Great Plains base: the platform is logging 10% monthly ARR growth, maintains a 7% churn rate, and hosts a vibrant user community anchored by Chipp Academy workshops and an active Discord. One example of the platform’s versatility is the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA), which launched a members-only AI chat trained on proprietary research—fully branded, embedded on their site, and updatable by non-technical staff.
“AI adoption is exploding, but most businesses still struggle to turn raw models into practical, secure tools,” said Matt Paulson, Partner at Homegrown Capital. “Chipp meets that need with a dead-simple builder, proven traction, and a team that knows how to sell to the mid-market. We’re convinced they can help define this new category of team-built AI.”
While well-funded point solutions like Sierra (customer support) and Glean (internal search) chase specific use cases, Chipp is taking a horizontal approach—offering unlimited-user plans starting at $99/month. With 100,000+ AI agents already live, Chipp’s mission is clear: to make that path accessible to every team, whether they’re in a Slack channel in Fargo or a WhatsApp thread in Manila.
“The people doing the work already know what to automate—they just need a faster path to build it,” Meyer said.
